British commercial theatre depends on individuals who put money into productions. These investors are called 'Angels'
and the West End of London would collapse without them. It's a bit
like investing in stocks and shares - although arguably more fun! Like
the stock market though, it is also risky and closely controlled by the
Financial Services Authority. Shares, or 'units' as they are called,
are used to capitalise productions and are usually from about £1,000
each, although half units are sometimes available. If the show makes
money, so do you. If it loses money, so do you too!
Although some established theatre 'angels' are already involved with 'Hancock', and most producers operate a 'closed' list, Nicholas Hennegan Limited is creating a list of new investors,
starting with this national tour of 'Hancocks Finest Hour', by Colin
Bennett. Most or all of the production costs will be raised
from Angels. If you would like to know more and become an 'Angel', please fill in the form
below. (Without obligation, of course...)
And if you are really curious about the process, don't forget our Introduction to Creative Producing Workshop. After the success of the first workshops at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane and RADA, others are being planned. Click HERE for details (on the Maverick Theatre website.)
